Purpose of your Stock PCV System:

 
The PCV (Positive Crankcase Ventilation) system is designed to regulate and remove fumes from the engine crankcase, and to alleviate crankcase pressure which could cause oil leaks or seal damage. The PCV system routes crankcase fumes into the intake manifold where they can be burned to eliminate harmful emissions into the atmosphere. The PCV valve controls the amount of crankcase flow volume depending on the engine's load.  With large throttle openings (high engine loads), the more blow-by gases are produced, and the more the PCV system flows oil vapor in to the intake manifold.  A small amount of that ignited mixture leaks past the piston rings and ends up in the crakcase.  This leakage is often reffered to a "blow-by" or leakage past the pistons.  Some of the oil mist and other products settle along the engine intake and over time form a "gunk".  Our oil catch can collects the oil mist and condensed the fuel vapors while allowing "cleaner" gasses to pass back into the intake manifold.

 

 Negative Effects of your Stock PCV System:

Many Corvette, Camaro, Firebird and GTO owners can testify to the amount of oil residue that can accumulate inside the intake manifold, throttle body, intake track and even the air filter during aggressive driving conditions.

  There are various negative effects when excess oil vapor contaminates the intake system from the stock PCV system - such as:

 

  • Throttle body and/or MAFS (Mass Air Flow Sensor) malfunction or failure.
  • Air filter, intercooler (if equipped) and intake ducting contamination if oil pools and run back out the intake system after engine shutdown
  • Reduced octane of the air/fuel mixture, which can cause detonation and the ECM (Engine Control Module) to retard timing, thereby reducing engine power.
  • Excessive carbon build-up on valves, piston crowns, combustion chambers and spark plugs. This also increases the chance of detonation and power loss.
  • Increased emissions & possible contamination of catalytic converters and oxygen sensors.

 

Bottom line: Excessive amounts of oil vapor in the intake manifold is detrimental to your engine!

Ultimate Function:

Elite Engineering's PCV Oil Catch Can has a unique 3-chamber design to effectively separate oil from the crankcase vapors, thereby eliminating all negative effects of excessive intake system oil contamination.  Oil vapor from the crankcase enters the 1st - Inlet/Filtration chamber where it is slowed down and caught in the stainless steel mesh, it then moves onto the 2nd - Transition/Diffusion chamber.  The Diffusion chamber has a very specific set of holes to remove the oil and only let clean air vapor pass.  Lastly, the vapor passes into the 3rd - Exit Chamber before it exits the Catch Can.

You also have the option of choosing the number of Exit Ports your Catch Can will have.  Most applications will only require (1) one 1/4" Female NPT Exit Port, but you can choose to have (2) two 1/4" Female NPT Exit Ports for Forced Induction set-ups.


  Not all Catch Cans are created equally!  Often imitated, never duplicated.  Most Catch Cans on the market are just comprised of an empty container with 2 ports.  While that simple design may trap a  few oil droplets, our Catch Can is designed to condense the oil vapor and trap the oil inside the container.

 Our test proven design incorporates a stainless steel mesh and screening mechanism that acts like a maze to collect and condense the oil vapor.  Once the oil vapors condense into liquid droplets, it falls to the bottom of the can.  In addition, the top assembly is specially designed to keep any liquid from climbing out the exit hole during aggressive driving conditions.  Stored oil volume is approximately 14 ounces.  You will be amazed by how much oil our Catch Can will catch!  Don't settle for an inferior competitor's product.  Insist on Elite Engineering's Catch Can!

The E2000 PCV Oil Catch Can is constructed of the finest materials inside and out.  High performance car owners insist on the best products that offer unsurpassed function as well as impressive visual enhancement.  Our Catch Can does both!  Our exclusive design incorporates optimum function and the finest materials, construction and finish for maximum dependability.

Machined from billet 6061-T6 aluminum alloy, and then anodized in a variety of colors for a striking look.  The internal condensing/filteration screen is stainless steel encased inside an aluminum alloy housing designed for low flow restriction.  The housing can be disassembled for screen inspection, cleaning or replacement if needed.  The inlet and outlet hose fittings are brass, and threaded into the body and sealed with Teflon tape.  Supplied hoses are fuel and oil vapor compatible (SAE 30R7 rated).  The bottom catch can reservoir screws onto the top of the unit, and is sealed with a built in O-ring.  Inspection and cleaning is easy by simply removing the bottom of the unit without disturbing the mounting system or hoses.

In keeping with our high quality standards, all supplied mounting hardware and screws are stainless steel.  The supplied custom machined mounting bracket is black anodized 6061-T6 aluminum, and is attached to your specific vehicle with the hardware supplied.


Each Catch Can kit includes everything you need to install the system.  Basic mechanical skills and common hand tools are the only things required.

    E2000 catch can

    My E2000 arrived quickly and was very nicely packaged. On-line installation instructions were easy to follow but contained errors. Foe example, they say to mount the bracket for the E2000 behind the radiator reservoir, then pop out the rubber grommet on the tank and use the supplied “6” mm nut to remount it on the stud. Well first of all, the nut is not 6mm, it’s 10mm. Secondly and most importantly, the mounting hole in the reservoir tank from which the rubber grommet was removed is at least 12 mm, so the supplied nut and lock washer do nothing to remount the tank. I had to go into my supply of washers to find 2 flat washers and a lock washer appropriately sized to make this work. For a product as nicely built as this E2000 unit, coming from a first class company, I don’t think I should have to be scrounging around in my old washer bins for parts to make work that look half assed. Otherwise this would have been a five star review.

    Super easy to install

    The catch can is actually extremely simple to install and only took about 30 minutes to do. I was swapping to a cold air intake simultaneously so I only had to take it apart once. Got a little over a hundred miles on it and haven’t had an issue or thrown a code. Very pleased with the quality of the product.

    Works as advertised

    I installed this catch can on an LT4 supercharged L83 truck. I did have to remove on of the disconnects to hook the hose onto the supercharger, but not a big deal. Definitely helps keep the supercharger clean and not full of oil!

    I received the E2000 for spare battery compartment mount. Return line was to short for my application and Steve sent me a longer one that cured the problem! It looks good where its mounted for easy access ! GREAT PRODUCT !!

    Install was easy. Shipping was the hard part. First ordered June 8, arrived June 23. Delivery guy threw the package over the gate into the yard. Dogs chewed all the lines and even chewed the threads off the inlet fitting. Sent pics to elite and a new fitting and two new hoses was shipped out to me for the cost shipping and handling. This should help reduce or eliminate coked and gummed up intake valves. Help keep octane rating of fuel and reduce knock. Time will tell of this preventative maintenance item turns out. All the parts are very well made and install looks neat. Only thing I could think of is if the system included the passanger side ccv as well.

    Amazing working and looking product

    Eveything was easy to install and looks almost like it was meant to be there. Love the braided line and click on fittings. That being said the bracket that mounts around can for mounting was alittle off and would completly tighten on can. Had to file a little to get tight fit but would still highley reccomend.
